After updating to 4.55 last night and not paying much attention I assumed all was well once the system restarted. Today I tried to watch netflix and was told I needed to update. Went to system update, immediately said the data was found, but after attempting to update for several seconds it said the data was corrupted, error 80029CCB. I've attempted to update via USB using the file on the PS3 update site but after going through the whole process it seems the file on the website is still 4.53. Could it be possible that they haven't updated the website with the proper file? Is there any way to tell?
PS3 itself is working fine, games are playing etc, but it's stuck at 4.53 with no way to update. Use the links below to get the new update and follow the instructions on how to name your folders and stuff.Then reboot in safe mode using the instructions in the other link.
Then select the last option in safe mode 'SYSTEM UPDATE'It took a few tries but I'm pretty sure that's because I forgot to take the disc out so it just kept automatically using the same corrupt 4.53 data on the Stick of Truth disc. Once I took that out, the safe mode update from thumb drive worked just fine!. Tried using the download from the link you provided and after preparing the update in safe mode - can't do a regular install from USB since the data has already been downloaded to my ps3, it's just apparently corrupted - it still shows as version 4.53 before it installs the update. I guess I'll keep checking periodically throughout the week to see if the file changes, otherwise it looks like I'll just have to wait for the next update barring some other miracle. In the meantime I might just have to pick up a chromecast for my Netflix; seems like something cool to have anyway.Thanks for your help!.

Within the PS3 folder, create a folder named “UPDATE”. Using your computer, to begin downloading system software 4.46. Download the update data from the webpage and save it in the “UPDATE” folder. Location: Save in the “PS3” folder “UPDATE” folder. File name: Save as file name “PS3UPDAT.PUP”.
